Most flowering plants need to be pollinated before they will produce seeds. Pollination occurs when pollen is transferred from the stamens to the stigma of flowers. Some flowers can self-pollinate, others require cross-pollination from another plant of the same species.
Although there are plants that can do it on their own, plants that are cross-pollinated are stronger, more diverse, and produce better seed quality. Pollination can occur with the help of wind or water, but mostly it happens with the help of animals.
I think this is a reminder of how important it is to do things within a community. We need each other.
